SAGE Scholarship Recipients - Winter 2020

Congratulations to our SAGE scholarship students!

In this competition, 5 recipients are each awarded a complementary research scholarship by the Interdisciplinary Work Research Team "Health, Gender, Equality" (SAGE):

1 scholarship of $500 at the master’s level:

Sophie Hélène Matte - Master's student in Industrial Relations and Human Resources at UQO
Her project, which will be presented at the Colloque étudiant interdisciplinaire des journées SAVIE-LGBTQ, will focus on microaggressions in the workplace: Definition and causal relationships between organizational characteristics, microaggressions and the mental health of people from the LGBTQ community. SAGE researchers Jessica Riel and Johanne Saint-Charles will supervise this project jointly with Isabel Côté.

2 scholarships of 2,000$ at the Master's level:

Marie-Ève Desmarais - Master's student in international law at UQAM.
Her project, supervised by SAGE researchers Rachel Cox and Stéphanie Bernstein, is on the prevention of domestic violence in the workplace in Quebec: lessons from international law for the health of Côte-Nord populations. She was scheduled to present her research at the 88th ACFAS 2020 Conference, which was unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19.

Rosalie Rivet-Nantais - Master's student in management science - organizational development profile at UQAM.
Her project, supervised by Johanne Saint-Charles and Mélanie Lefrançois, focuses on organizational change management practices: relational issues and gender perspectives for occupational health and safety. She will present her research in an oral communication subject to a peer review committee review, in June 2021.

2 scholarships of 3,000$ fat the PhD level:

Ammon Lilyane Djoulde Alou - Doctoral student in Industrial Relations at Université Laval..
Her project, supervised by SAGE researchers Geneviève Baril-Gingras and Mélanie Lefrançois, focuses on the nature of time issues in labour disputes in Quebec from 2005 to 2018, from a gender perspective. She plans to submit a publication to the scientific journal Relations Industrielles by March 2021.

Tessa Boies - Doctoral student in education at UQO.
Her project, supervised by researchers Jessica Riel and Mélanie Lefrançois, focuses on collective work in vocational education teaching and gender differences. She plans to submit a publication to the scientific journal International Journal for Research in Vocational Education and Training (IJRVET) by October 2020.

SAGE 2020 Scholarship Competition

The Interdisciplinary Work Research Team Health-Gender-Equality (SAGE) conducts innovative work aimed at reducing social and gender inequalities in occupational health. This competition offers 5 scholarships: 1 scholarship of $500 for undergraduate studies; 2 scholarships of $2,000 for graduate studies (master’s level) and 2 scholarships of $3,000 for graduate studies (PhD level).
 
To be eligible, applicants must:
 

  • Hold undergraduate, graduate or postdoctoral student status in a Quebec university in one of the following occupational health fields: ergonomics, law, industrial relations, economics, communication, psychology, epidemiology, human resources management.
  • Excellence of the academic (GPA above 3.0/4.3) and research record (having published a scientific article or having previously presented at a peer-reviewed conference) if applicable.

Undergraduate:

  • Be involved in the work of at least one regular member of the SAGE research team.
  • Demonstrate a significant interest in pursuing graduate studies and a strong interest in one of the team's research areas.
  • Specify your university and program of choice for the master's degree.

Graduate studies (Master's, PhD and postdoctoral fellowship):

  • Co-supervision of the project submitted, by two researchers from the SAGE team
  • Demonstrate how your project fits into one of the team's three research areas.

*Note : Priority will be given to students who have never received a SAGE scholarship.
 
To participate, follow the nomination process in the attached announcement and send the completed forms and necessary documents to the attention of Jessica Riel at sage@uqo.ca before February 28, 2020 at 11:59 pm.
