The SAGE team comes from the occupational health research area of the Centre de recherche interdisciplinaire sur le bien-être, la santé, la société et l’environnement (CINBIOSE). Several projects under this area were conducted as part of the Invisible qui fait mal partnership financed by the CQRS/FCAR/FQRSC (from 1993 to 2009). This university-union partnership published important research on the effects of gender inequality on workplace well-being, especially in precarious work settings. This exceptional collaboration between experts in law and ergonomics had important impacts on science, public policies and various workplaces.

Researchers from a range of disciplines and at various stages of their career with a common expertise in gender studies worked together on these projects. To ensure the team’s renewal and the sustainability of the achievements of the Invisible qui fait mal partnership, they created the SAGE team in 2012.
